& your soul is all i ever wanted

YAY. finally settled the Maslow's Hierachy thing about self fulfilment. Hope the new template is more reader friendly. Listening to itunes, keep sneezing and I REALLY SHOULD STUDY. last bit for self fulfilment. haha.

Okay. RJC. was there last sat, went to see their career fair after GeePee consultation. On a note, do you know what's a "wet willy"? I always thought it was a whale. Funny, cz i've a shirt with "Wet Willy: printed on it. Wore it to college on saturday and totally got....er... enlightened by my teacher n friends. gosh. GOSH. i have no comments la!!! Anyway RJC scholarship and career fair was PACKED. learnt some stuff, followed han ren around and looked at all the RJcians. haha. after that studied in a classroom, so that han ren could access internet until 9PM. omg. we ended up listening to a talk given by the Dalai Lama in Miami 2004! http://www.kunkyab.org/archive/fpmtradio/mp3/32k/04.09.19-HHDL-32k-HH_Dalai_Lama-World_Peace_Through_Inner_Peace.mp3 its a great talk!

Asean Dance. short mention. er, i had a better time last year. but venue was great.

why I shouldn't be blogging? duh. 3 weeks to prelims.

i love my class!! yea! they rock. a bunch of crazy people who are generally noisy yet generally ethical and deemed smart but lazy by teachers. love to talk nonsense, gossip, tease each other, laugh and don't know what else under the sun!!

I can't understand some people. Well a lot of people actually. Why are they so *insert profanity* irritating and unethical and why can't they get a grip on their lives???? hello??? alan said that banyak orang banyak ragam, but really, sometimes I think these people are just too much. Would just LOVE to SLAAAAAP them upside down. which brings me to the next part. As you can see, I sometimes have problems controlling my temper. grrr. especially when it comes to a certain human in my class. (on another note, I wonder why people laugh when I label someone I'm talking about as "human". is it funny?? eg: that stupid human @_o)
Wonder why I let myself get soooooo irritated too. LOL, like I'm such a model or perfection myself!! hahaha!!! ironic.

weather. ITS THE 7TH MONTH. no wonder my nose is stuck. i bet its not misty outside, its HAZY due to the BURNING. *mongol suffocates*

flags. Singapore National Day today. Happy 41st birthday Singapore! Noting all the flags that pop up suddenly at this period. haha. In the ST 2 sundays ago was a commentary on the difference in how Americans treat their flag (our flag XD) the Star Spangled banner, compared to how Singaporeans treat theirs. Interesting article, something to ponder about. Difference is, Americans seem to embrace their national flag in all aspects of their lives, bandanas etc. The Singapore flag (nor the Jalur Gemilang) is NOT treated in this way, thank you. I personally have a stars and stripes bandana myself, not interested in a jalur gemilang one, thanks, while my (disloyal) sister covets a Union Jack one. Hm, i wonder if there are households which use the flags as rags to wipe tables? But, I'm digressing from the point. What is a flag then? A symbol of identity? Is that why protesters like to burn flags (if possible) along with the effigies of leaders they are protesting against? Is it a form of insult? Not very effective anyway, since it happens so often now if you burn my flag I probably wouldn't kick up a big fuss because you're not the leader of the nation, and I intend to ignore you so that the leader of your nation and I can continue our bilateral thingys. So what are flags and what roles do they play in our lives? I'd say at the moment, they're a tool to lend support to maintaining the notion of common identities shared by groups of people. Symbolism, one of the means of governing a society.

lastly, also highlighted in Sunday's paper, is BLOGGING. Now as a blogger I of course read the highlighted issue with interest: bloggers are self advertising narcissi who want to be famous. gapes. Does Xtine as a blogger (and all of you bloggers out there) adhere to this ... classification??? (DAMN THE CONSTRUCTION DOWN THERE JUST STARTED) There are examples of 4 types of bloggers, angsty teens, thinking men, mums and seniors. Wow. big scope of society there. The article continues to question, are bloggers becoming too narcissistic? One school of thought claims, blogs are an extension of one's ego. Another, they reach out to people.

So! My (hahaa MY) comments. Well, why did I start blogging in the first place? It was when I saw a friend's blog, (KPchen's) and read it for a few months when the novelty of blogging struck me. So I decided to give it a try. From simple postings of my life (it was somewhat like an online diary then) it ballooned into a self-learnt effort of changing blogskins, editing blogskins and, well, as the article says, verbal diarrehea. But please! Am I overly narcissistic? Am I an attention grabber?? T.T oh the notion so puts me down. I blog for my friends to know what's up with me in Singapore. though I think its pretty not effective, since we're all busy. So much for "I think it would save me the trouble of typing so much on msn". Second, help my GeePee? hah, my thoughts are just as disorganised as ever, I'm kidding myself. Third, for my own record! Realised how useful this is when I read my archives. Get to see how I've changed as a person. On another hand, I actually WANT people to know what's going on in my life (Although I won't care if you don't) so maybe I do want the attention? paradoxical, anyone care to help me straighen my brain??? If I did want attention though, there'd be HEAPS of pictures here wouldn't there? And I might blog about "hot" issues so that the kepohs out there who are searching for that elusive hot issue would view my blog thanks to the nature of search engines. (Found this out through articles about the poly student who lost her phone and following events scandal)

Besides blogging, I also READ other people's blogs (usually those on my links) and well, I love the insights, ponderings and laughs I get out of it. Not to mention the "gossip"! Blogging provides indirect contact between you and people who know (or don't) you. If you didn't want people to know you wouldn't want to post it. Perhaps its human nature to want to share what one thinks is worth a mention with others. Plus it can be quite informative to check out blogs, got a different perspective of the forgot-the-name company that approached me in Orchard a few months ago that way. Some blogs on my list provide REALLY interesting comments on issues and some just make me go: whoa! language! letting me set new standards for my writing.

Verdict on blogs? They're here to stay, and, well, WE'RE all narcissi in one way or another, and if blogs didn't exist, well, we'd find some other avenue! Allow us to scurry around with out little lives, and as I began in this post, MASLOW'S HIERARCHY. Blogging may just allow us to achieve a little bit more of that self actualisation we crave.

signing off 1 hr and 40 mins too late!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
