& your soul is all i ever wanted

Oh My Goodness...

oh my freaking goodness, they painted my secondary school buildings ORANGE AND YELLOW.

if you need proof, visit the new school website, www.smkssaas.net

which was FINALLY officially launched, 2 years after I leave school when it was a simple online portal without much to offer. It's kind of strange reading the malay now, and especially the... conversational type! sighs. somehow the feeling of alumni isn't totally there yet. Can't imagine what it would be to be an AJ alumni either.... what would I do as one??? hmm .... can ponder on that...

i honestly have a lot of homework. Shouldn't be blogging. just went utterly crazee with yvonne and yaya just now though. kept laughing and laughing in the reading room!! (one of the reasons why i love my classmates!) it felt good to just laugh.

but what I wanted to blog about was the unexpected phone call i received on the mrt today. guess what? they FOUND MY THERMODY NOTES IN SMU. thank YOU!!! now all I have to do is go get it at, er, level one of the school of accountacy. hm i think i'll probably get lost instead ><
but this is certainly what I like about singapore!! they actually informed the AJ office, which then contacted me. *starry eyed* thank you thank you thank you!!!

random memory of the day:

remember the milk vans that used to come to school when you were young? I do (And if you never saw the milk van before too bad for you) Form teachers ushering lines of 8 year olds, each getting a carton of milk. I wonder where all the milk came from? I remember my mom paying for some milk (that I got weekly), and my form teacher (Was it Pn Sepiah?) collecting the money. I remember learning how to open the milk carton and drink from it without a straw (I still do it now when I'm too lazy to get a cup). Sometimes, someone else came! I remember honey stars once, and tiny bowls of milk and cereal eaten by eager mouths using tiny spoons. Only now I wonder, why did they come? I bet they were promoting honey stars! utilising the persuasiveness of kids over their parents to increase sales of their product. or maybe it was a government or school campaign to ensure that the young generation get all the calcium and goodies they need to grow. but it sure was a memory. unlike japanese schools where everyone gets a glass bottle of milk (And there's cocoa powder if you want flavour) and they recycle the glass bottles! Now THAT'S my idea of effectiveness. But still, memories of the milk van and the joys of drinking milk in my early childhood (and even now) are worth savouring always.

and its study time. Got a bottle of chocolate milk in the fridge!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
