Sundays: Intellectual Discussions of the Han Ren, Jap and Mongol

Intellectual Discussion can be defined as the discussion of subjects which can be classified according to degree of usefulness in real life, or (more preferbaly) in academic work.

Yesterday (Sunday), the han ren, jap and mongol sat in Bishan's Brighthill Temple dining hall to "do work" but their efforts ultimately boiled down to lively sharing of information and thoughts on various intellectual issues. Of course, being teenagers, they did dabble in teenager-talk, which was a discussion on how female Singapore teens fresh out of secondary school can brand their peers based on their secondary school. Fascinating opinions such as the following were presented by jap to his amused audience.

Allegations of a group of female Singapore JC1s Jap was with.

1. The most eligible guys come from ACS (I) (Angle-Chinese School International). Why? "Got looks, got money." ACS Barker, "Ok-lah, but ACS I better"
2. Hwa Chong guys do not make suitable boyfriends. They're very "China-man"
3. SGCS (Singapore Chinese Girls School) students make the best gfs. They're trained in the way of the "tai-tai"s. Eg: lessons on how to walk, put make up, etc. (Mongol thought this was acutally quite a positive thing. No relation to taitai in her opinion)
4. The only girls who you'll see with all the assorted pins in their hair (in general) are girls from CHIJs. (Convent of Holy Infant Jesus). Other girls just pull their hair into pony tails.
5. Malaysian guys are MUCH more gentlemanly than Singaporean guys. (wahaha) "They actually know how to open the door for you and carry stuff for you." Note: this was after jap asked their opinion on scholars. Mongol totally agrees.
6. "If you want to get a bf, don't get a scholar. Sure leave you wan!" (lol!! over generalising!)

That would be the teenage-talk part. After that we avidly talked about POVERTY (linking the USA to it too), global warming, global cooling, alternative sources of fuel, and... S papers. (Mongol didn't participate much in the latter). I think at certain points we could reach a general consensus that, the Earth is dead. haha... fatalistic.

To conclude, I had a very good, work-wise unproductive Sunday. We all learnt a LOT. Wish I could have more intellectual talks with people around me. I noted my dad can enjoy this with his brothers whenever they meet up. I had a few interesting scientific discussions in class last year, and Ying Lee was a great intellectual talked. however, so far this year I think I'll have to rely on the mongol-jap-hanren meetings. Heehee. Meanwhile, volunteers anyone?

Lil miss CK's next post: new song obsession. haha. I know my blog song can be rather addictive. It's not always there though, i have something called a download limit. darn! Will have to postpone my promise in one of my blog entries to talk about something which I have already forgotten about. Was in abortion?

oh yes, and my classmate actually had his comment published in yesterdays Sunday Times about the sexuality talk held in my school. I feel like submitting a reply to his comment.... which I shall hopefully cover soon! Right now: MATHS.

Status: obsessing over superhumongous amounts of HW...probability theory, GP, bio.... And spoilt phone is distressing.
Listening to: Longer. Delta Goodrem. (current song obsession. its a song I can actually sing without over straining any vocal chords xD)

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
