Joys of CNY

Currently seated at home using the PC, whose keyboard is sick. I can't type exclaimation...(exclaimation mark) But its a good day. I'm so happy ^^

Got back yesterday after leaving Singapore at about 10 am. We officially crossed the border at 11 and Christine started counting the hours until she'd reach home, smsing away in the meantime and snoozing. The night before, Ren Xin and I had spent the night at my uncle's, and had this superb dinner at this nice restaurant down Pasir Panjng Hill. Yeap, one of the places in Singapore where the food is GOOD. Reached my HOUSE at about 3.45pm, and Ren Xin's dad picked her up at about 4. Home sweet home. MY DOG MISSED ME. SHE WAS HAPPY TO SEE ME (exclaimation) *Kisses Floss*

Reunion dinner this year was at a restaurant for once instead of my house, where it's been held for the past few years. In fact, we've an honored guest this year, my dad's cousin from China. Yeah. And my cousin who migrated to Aus is back too, I get to see and dote on my niece Clairessa! (OMG THE EXCLAIMATION WORKED) I think I shall start a nice proper narrative below, instead of breaking of into rhapsody every few sentences. I'd make a lot more sense.

CNY for Christine

Usually reunion dinner is with my dad's side of the family. For the past few years, as I mentioned, dinner was held at our house, pot luck style. and my mum and aunts and grandma will cook cook cook the tantalising smells and dishes....xD. Well this year we had it at some restaurant and for a joke I did some graphics for an english translted menu my immediate family came up with. Was kind fun, got lotsa references it. For eg, Andrew Korkor said: It was very amusing and informative. Showed me just how much time you have.... (Christine: Woi i did that until 2 am la (exclaimation))

After reunion dinner we all head home for sleep. This time, I hit the sack as soon as I got back...which was 9pm. shows how tired i was?

New Year morning (exclaimation) Breakfast at my eldest uncle's house, also my dad's family. Hakka people go vegetarian on the first day of new year, so vegetarian breakfst for me ^^ Omg, the "chai" is like the highlight, I love it sooo much...and I don't get to eat it in singapore...so you can imagine how i stuffed myself this morning (oh no i rhapsodized again)

*sitting in front of PC with doggie on lap*

After breakfast my dad will drive us down to KL to my mum's side of the family. Which is really huge. Yeap, my maternal family is HUUUUGE, and its fun cause I've got so many nieces and nephews now, and there are babies to coo at (Exclaimation) Plus there is the Hokkien food which I am also crazy over, so Christine tends to overeat during the CNY season. Lately I spend CNY talking to my cousins of my age, we're kind of a gang, and are qute an interesting bunch when we attend something together cause we're a relted foursome. haha. okay that made not so much sense, but basically its 2 tigers, Xin-Yi and Kenny, and 2 dragons, Qi Lun and yours truly. the rest of my youger cousins make up the young gang and the older cousins are all married...well, most of them. oh no, does this mean I'm getting old?

After a while at my grandma's place, it's time to take my paternal grandma to visit her sisters, my great aunts. Kind fun, it's my dad's turn to have fun as he and my uncles meet their cousins and banter away. On my mum's side everyone gathers at my grandma's so it's easier for everyone, instead of hopping from house to house.

Come twilight and it's back to where we started, for dinner at my eldest uncle's house ^^ After that it's fun time, and lately they got a karaoke set, but I'm blogging as you can see right now as I volunteered to come home and look after my dog. haha. darling is sleeping on my lap now. Poor thing, been all alone all day...

so, this CNY i've got a cheongsam after all (Exclaimation) My youngest maternal aunt got it from me in Shanghai, black with a red motif of cherry blossoms. I LOVE IT. plus it actually fits quite well, which lead to lots of questions of if it's tailor made or store bought. I really must credit my aunt for buying such a good fit of a cheongsam. and, and, FINALLY, my mum said the magic words to me this morning: YOU LOST WEIGHT. OH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS *Punches fist into air*

got pics, but can't load them yet, wait till I get back to singapore and I'm in the mood to put pics of myself on this blog again. till the next time i get to blog, toodles!

lol miss CK: happy CNY everyone! I'm so joyous this season ^^ lots of happiness and for more reasons than one ^^

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
