My Weekends

Right. Dinner over, as usual very much better than Revada ( I completely forgot to blog bout our new caterer - hope this shows my placing less importance on food!) the vegetables make me quite happy! I like my greens, and Revada used to make me scared as i once encountered a worm on my leaf and often, sand in my vegetables. ugh. I'm not a sand eater, neither am I a worm eater....

Hm...discovered something slightly startling after dinner, I thought I'd gotten over it. Oh and at dinner me, William and Manpreet were teasing Howard, he's a nice person I think he won't mind. Howard is one of those rare people who are fun to tease and they don't mind. Haha...sometimes he's ultra lame, which is why its fun teasing him I guess.

Okay, so about my weekends. On the 13th of August I had a workshop for our Project Work oral presentation. The night before that, Avril, Yingying, Wai Meng and Zin Htet, members of my PW group had come to Oldham Hall so we could complete our power point and Written Report. It was quite fun, except that they don't on the air cond in the dining hall on Friday nights, so it was a trifle hot there. Main thing, we got our work done and at 9.30 I went with Yingying, Avril and Zin Htet to Waffle Town opposite my hostel for dinner (which we girls skipped) and had fun bantering and such. Pic below (Was playing with my digicam)

On Saturday, our workshop turned out quite okay, and my ego went ballistic as the very nice British instructor, Peter said "I liked this girl" when the video of the presentation we'd done was screened for the feedback session. In fact, Yingying and Zin Htet earned much praise from Peter as well, no bad comments for them so in the end, not surprisingly, we won the best presentation in class! So we've got 5 lovely $5 Spinelli vouchers to use. Heehee!!

On Sunday had an ASEAN comm meeting, I totally had a miscommunication with Siang Ee, (Kudos to Siang Ee - thanks for being so understanding!) but don't get me wrong, no argument was involved. And after ASEAN comm, Adrian belanja-ed those present to McDs ice cream! Thank Adrian! However, Chin Yen and I were kinda obsessed over our Hw, so we went back early after all. Haha. As in we got everyone to leave earlier, other wise we might have stayed there to gossip and stuff.

Since this is a post dedicated to weekends I shall not comment much on my week after that. Main thing I got pretty depressed around Tuesday and perked up only after my mum called me and talked to me and told me they'd be coming down for the weekend!! And my Bio spa was quite okay.

And last weekend, my whole family came down!! I am so happy! I've got mooncakes, and my bag and books from Xin-yi! (Thanks Xin-yi!!) and I got to see my sisters and my mum and my dad!! Happy! Plus I ate lots of food all weekend. My mum says I'm putting on weight (oh dear!) and I think I should post the proof online. Argh. Dang. I'll never be able to become anaroxic coz I love food too much but I think its time for self control when it comes to food. Must control intake of sweet foods, which is what I usually nibble when I'm stressed or depressed.

Anyway I managed to get my mum to meet up with my cousins here, and my cousin-in-law, Uncle Mike took us for HEAVENLY Italian food (it is SO good!!) . I liked the concept there, that they spread white paper on the tables and provide chalk for customers to draw on the paper. If its good they actually put it up on this special wall, so I couldn't resist, dragged out my colour pens and pencil and scribbled all oevr my area. I really HOPE they put up something I drew...it'll be my first work displayed and I'd be SO proud!! Must go there again to check it out.

This is outside Pasta Brava, the Italian Restaurant. From left: my mum, cousin Zhen gege, his wife, cousin Ping jiejie. Note: I'm gaining kilos!! the horror!!

I'd edit the picture to show only the faces, but i'm trying to be not so attached to what I allow people to see on my blog. ALSO: perhaps I'll be motivated to lose weight. hehe.

Last but not least, my Sunday was another good day, I spent the day with Ying Lee and Adrian, we were studying in Bishan. I made very very good progress I think. Very happy with myself and hope I'll be able to do better next week. I think the hard study really exhausted me though, because I "passed out" at 9.30pm, missed roll call and woke up at 12.30am this morning to do my EoM (Evaluation of Material) for PW, it was due today. sighs.

Hopefully my next post will be a GP essay I'll type for practice, back to the old ways once more!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
