First day: had a short lecture on safety procedures, IMCB stuff ( i think i fell asleep here) and finally Prof. Megan came and told us what we'd really be doing. i was thrilled coz i've actually studied it in Bio! so cool!! I'd be doing the real experiment!!
In short, we'd be transferring a gene (the correct term is transform for ur info) into a bacteria and then we'd infect the bacteria onto plants so we can study the effect of the gene on the plants. This is coz the bacteria affects the gametes (seeds) of the plants so you can see the effects of the gene in the offspring.
Sounds confusing? the details are even more so.
In the meantime, we got to explore Holland Village during our lunch breaks, and ate the food around the area (sadly I don't really appreciate Singaporean hawker food) and I met people from different JCs and Secondary schools. There's this guy I found really cute during the course, but hey, just being a critique of guys I meet okay. Don't go barking up the wrong tree anyone!
