Album review!!

Oh yeah, I'm doing a lovely album review! This is probably the first time I'm doing one, so bear with the obsessions of a teenage girl!

So, the album is newly released on the 16th of June, INCOMPLETE by the Backstreet Boys!

(Must point out at this point I've liked their early albums as well, and my sister Elena has one of their compilation albums)

Track one: Incomplete
First heard this song in Malaysia at the insistence of my sis Elena, and I fell in love almost immediately!! It's so beautiful! No wonder it was ranked number one not long after its release in Australia ^^ The MTV is great too, I can really feel the emotions in this song, which is something I look out in all songs I listen to...

Track 2: Just Want You To Know
I like the chorus of this song...especially the last line. More upbeat and has great vocals. The beginning is rather catchy, sorta resembles a spoilt cd....so when I first listened to it i nearly freaked coz i thought my cd/com had a prob.

Track 3: Crawling Back To You
I love this song!! It's one of those songs I can probably listen to all day and feel so connected with the emotions in this song. Yeah, I can really feel it, so I have just a huge satisfied feeling when I listen to Crawling Back To You. *I must say, if the lyrics of this song were to happen to me, as in I was the girl...it would be SO novel, (and I might as well dream on)*

Track 4: Weird World
Look at the title. The song ain't weird, its quite good. It has a nice beat, not too fast not too slow,
and the words "Sweet Baby" in this song....well, to a girl they can sound SO flattering. Quite inspirational to a teen bent over a pile of physics notes....

Track 5: I Still...
I find the beginning a bit oriental....don't know why, I don't think the instrument used is oriental at all. The vocals aren't dominated by the music in the background, and the base is good. Love the pre-chorus.

Track 6: Poster Girl
Now this is one cute song! I love the chorus, especially the line "She says nothing's forever in this crazy world" The chorus is fast and yet understandable. Okay, maybe coz I listened to this album so many times already (even though I just bought it yesterday)

Track 7: Lose It All
Another emotional song. Background has lots of focus, but well....listen to it. If you're one of those people who really listens intently, you can feel the mood of the song just sweep you away

Track 8: Climbing The Walls
Intially I didn't really warm to this song, the intro reminds me of some mandrin boyband songs. But, BUT, the chorus, it's gorgeous!! The guitars and percussion in the background add to the mood nicely, though I kinda picture spidermans everytime I hear "Now I'm climbing the walls..." In fact, when I first read this title, I thought it was a kind of...Simple Plan-Hoobastank-Maroon5 song. Now I know, its pure BSB!! The 3rd stanza (if I'm not mistake) is the fascinating part of the song...in the difference in the tune/B-part

Track 9: My Beautiful Woman
"Jazzy" piece is how I perceive this song. Not really to my taste, but I can take it. The beat is slightly uneven, which is why I call it "jazzy"

Track 10: Safest Place to Hide
V. romantic type of song. Lovely, but think of a guy hiding behind a girl.....><>

Track 11: Siberia
I enjoy this song as well. The chorus can really stick in your head, I think its coz of the words "Siberia" and all the possible meanings you can draw from it. Good for those suffering from unrequited love....

Track 12: Never Gone
Namesake of the album!! Another "slow" song in comparison to the other songs in this album, but I can see why they chose it to be the title track. Classic BSB, so meaningful!! Love song as well, but it can be love for just anyone!

OK, that's a wrap. So now for the closing! I conclude, although they have definitely eased into the current music style right now (band prominent in the background) INCOMPLETE still retains the essence of the Backstreet Boys, that elusive quality which made them such a hit in the past! It may be the synchronising, or their voices (when someone commented they aren't good loking, I was: Who cares how they look, their music is superb!) or just the expression they really drive into their art. Well. I love it. Here's to their re-emergence in the music scene, something I am totally grateful for, their music is JUST what I need in this Weird World! haha,

cheers! ^^
- luv, k-chan!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
