News for the FIRST week of 2005!

Apparently this ASEAN thingy is gonna make my blog look SO abandoned!! I can only blog twice a week at most….as I’m so occupied!! Sad ain’t it? So to all my few but faithful readers….please please bear with me…I don’t have a choice!!

Well well well…..let’s just run through my orientation details shall we?

First day of Orientation….woke up at 5.15 am (gasp!) and got ready for school… blah blah blah. The bus leaves the school at 6.40am…which used to be my normal wake up time….*sigh* during my secondary school life that is. I was put into Tribe Altjira…and dwelling Yume. No need to know the elaboration, its confusing. Anyway I seemed to be surrounded by so many studious people as my dwelling (24 ppl in all) was so QUIET compared to other dwellings. However, I soon got my first experience of Singaporean cheering. My senior Benjamin was DEFINITELY NOT exaggerating when he stated : “ Singaporeans like to cheer. A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT.” (If I’ve said this before…I’m just emphasizing it, it really is that big of a culture shock). All in all my orientation was super fun!! And I plan to join the second orientation as an OGF, short for Orientation Group Facilitator. Either its my imagination or Singaporeans love short forms too.

Yesterday was our last day of orientation…after 4 days of games and talks (in one game I got wet *sob*) we were given 5 hours off to hang out with our dwelling members. So my dwelling went to Orchard…..and decided to go to karaoke. Argh! Money fly money fly!! Not to mention my very expensive traveling expenses (in my opinion that is). To wrap it all up we had a camp fire….(real fire, no joke) but unfortunately it rained!! It rains so much here, but I’m not complaining, its better than too much sunshine! During camp fire each tribe performed a skit…and I had a part in which I had to act so totally not-Christine-ish so I don’t wanna elaborate on that either. We also had a mass dance, Slam Dunk Da Funk..its a TOTALLY great dance…if I can only remember the steps…….Anyway. It ended at about 9.20PM and I rushed back to the hostel as fast as my lil legs could carry me! End of story.

Here I just wanna babble a bit about my seniors, who really are a nice bunch of people. Or maybe I just say that because it seems like so many of the seniors know how to play the piano so well…and I’m so jealous!! I haven’t gotten all their names though….as I am usually so enraptured by the piano I forget to ask again. Perhaps I need to work on my piano playing more. I wonder if its possible? Hmm….if my senior Ben can do it I guess I can too. But all in all my seniors are friendly and full of tips for us…the only downfall I see right now is they expect us to perform for them….and they told us today!! We’re supposed top be performing right now but the chapel is being used by some people. MUAHAHAHAHA.

Lastly, I’m going to the temple with my Buddhist friend Mae Yue tomorrow! Yay!! Okay gotta run! Need to copy and paste this etc!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
