Eventful day!

Saturday, 13th Novermber 2004 was an eventful day in Christine's life. It certainly did not seem that way when I rose at 9.30 am, ate my breakfast and read the newspaper. Much to my surprise, the two humans who bugged me to the very limits of my patience yesterday were still snoozing. My benefit then, didn't have to line up for the paper. Someone, I presume my dad, had left the tv on, CNN was broadcasting all sorts of things. I, being sick of gory stuff, sad stuff, tragic stuff and boring stuff switched to a nice cartoon. I have not watched Disney in ages. Soon I was laughing over Donald Duck's antics and my mom was reading the newspaper. Typical Saturday morning laziness. The phone rang, and I waltzed over to pick it up. An unfamiliar voice greeted me. Much to my surprise, my next door neighbour had rung us up. To my greater astonishment, she asked me about a car parked outside our house, if it belonged to us or a guest of ours. Apparetly the car had been there for a LONG time. I told aunty that we weren't expecting any guests, and that we would take a peek outside. So me and my mom peeked out the windows, and gosh! There was a MAN in a black proton outside our house! My mom immediately went out to check, and being a little curious and concerned, I followed. (I was later reprimanded for doing so) The guy in the balck car was bending over low on the stering wheel, and I could see something white in his hands, not unlike tissue paper, and he seemed to be doing something to his face. Either that or pretending to have a reason for bending over so low. A red bandanna with a white motive was wrapped around his head, and he wore a black sleveless shirt. Needless to say, this individual had all the criteria needed to make any household nervous. Especially if he was parked in front of your house in a most unusal angle for quite a long period of time. My mom, now scared, immediatey locked the gate, went into the house, and called my dad. He gave my mom the number of the police station in Shah Alam. And my mom called them at once. She later commented that the police were wonderfully quick to respond. Then we all literally barricaded ourselves upstairs to watch the suspicious character who was STILL bent over the stering wheel. I personally wondered if something might be wrong with him, he was bent over for ever so long....

When fear grips youm and you're feeling afraid and anxious, time comes to a standstill. By now, me, my mom and my two sisters were fretting at our outpost, wondering where the police were. Fortunately, they arrived, and soon were questioning the man. In no time at all, the man was GONE! ahh....sweet relief! My mom had noticed with amusement the police had actually brought along a machine gun in their car...Nonetheless, we rang up our neighbour and reassured her the man had left. Their family then 'balik kampung'-ed (i can't think up of a better term at this time of the night) and my mom went to tell the neighbours to becareful of any unscrupulous characters who might be lurking around. In fact, I'm a little wary and small noises in the middle of the night are making me jump. So you can imagine how I'd like to curse all those people intent on banging firecrackers this hour of the night!

Anyway, another major event today was I actually tidied up my room for about an hour, with the help of my mom. Its much neater now, save for my table, which is still.......a war zone/pig sty/mess...take your pick. I also went out for dinner with my family, and it was great, since I've been salivating for shark fin soup these past few weeks.....hehe.. I really like shark fin soup, though I'd rather eat imitation shark fin......After a nice dinner, we went to my dad'd friend's house....I had HAGEN DAZ ice cream!! oh gosh! the only thing I can say is, it was SUPERB. Shared it with my sister Elena, after goodness knows how many years of not eating Hagen Daz ice cream.

Haha, so that was my very intresting day, comparably in these past few weeks, and I'm going to the temple tomorrow, if I have more to blog I will certainly blog tomorrow, then hide this laptop.

Happy Hari Raya!

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
