& your soul is all i ever wanted

okay, i've decided to wait on learning how to use this blog, so at the moment i'm just gonna use this as a sort-of online diary....so everyone can just check up on whats going on in Christine Kon's mind...heh heh....don't worry, I don't think I shall be putting anything bad down, it'd be breaking my New yEARS rESOLUTION

Anyway, here's a brief run through on what has been happening recently:

11/2 - Public Speaking competition for Zone Levels....my topic was "The Generation Gap" and the impromptu titile was "Perseverance" So...I was the Zone Champion....meaning i'm Shah Alam's representative for the district level. Yay! Special tahnks to the audience for making my speech a great success!

17/2 - Inter-school debate with SMK Section 18...the topic was "The Handphone Has Diminished Genuine Communication" and we were the Negative...i was practically hopping around the room cause that was the side I wanted ^-^ Nonetheless, it was a close battle, i give the Sec 18 debators credit....as we won by only 5 points *phew* or else our teacher might have strangled us...just kidding!

18/2 - District level Public Speaking Competition...here I didn't win...and everbody was telling me I sounded better in Shah Alam...i guess that's partially because I needed the audience's support....However, I did meet some nice people...hope you guys keep in touch, and thanks for all those tips for our debates :P I might as well mention that the top 3 were all guys, but hey, they certainly deserved it! Once I got back, it was rush to get ready for debates...as you will see as you read on...

19/2 - DEBATES AGAIN...this was my busiest week in all of February, and also the week with the least sleep...i seriously look like a walking Panda from China at the moment...but I'm catching up on it... ^-^. Anyway, our Debate in the morning was with Sri Muda Secondary School, and boy, what a debate! I was so sure Sri Muda was going to win for the title "The Consumer Cannot be Blamed for Piracy"......honest! My compliments to Sara, Erik and KP...you're a great team! So we're Zone Champs for the Datuk Wira, and are going up against Sri Aman girls school/.....uh oh....

Anyway, on that SAME day, in the afternoon, we had a debate against La Salle, PJ for the Taylors College debate!!! Oh my gosh, we were all so tired (Vithiya, Megat, Aisyah and Shaz and me) that we didn't really put up our best show, but we still went down fighting, opposing the motion, "The Legal Age for Obtaining a Driving License ahould be Raised" and it had better not be raised! Never mind, we can't have everything in life, and at least i did get some compliments on being a good public speaker (kembang)

20/4 - We held an AIDS Campaign under our school Interact Club and it was quite a success. We had speakers from the Malaysian AIDS Council to speak and I learnt a lot. Not to mention receiving this cute little collar stud, the ribbon (which I have stuck in my diary) and lots of booklets for our campaign. Applause to our Community Service Director Joan Yee who has really done a great job! Also to the BOD of SSAAS and the MAC and everyone involved, especially Aaron too!

So thats how my week has been, and my exams are next week, but i'll try to keep updating!

Christine

'I dreamt that I was composing a symphony....I had gone to my table to begin writing it down when I suddenly reflected: "If I write this part I shall let myself be carried on to write the rest. The natural tendency of my mind to expand the material is sure to make it very long...When the symphony is finished I shall be weak enough to allow my copyist to copy it out, and thus immediately incur a debt of 1,000 or 1,200 francs. Once the parts are copied I shall be harassed by the temptation to have the work performed; I shall give a concert in which, as is sure to be the case in these days, the receipts will barely cover half the expenses; I shall lose what I have not got; I shall want the necessaries of life for my poor invalid, and shall have no money for either myself or for my son's keep on board ship!"...I threw down my pen saying, "Bah! I shall have forgotten the symphony tomorrow." But the following night the obstinate symphony again presented itself...'
- Berlioz writing about a nightmare he had during the 1850s
